F-104G STARFIGHTER Special Colors - AMI

    1:48

The supersonic interceptor aircraft F-104 Starfighter was, without doubts, one of the most famous, and longlasting, aircraft in History. The F-104 entered in service in the late ‘50s and served with USAF for a long time. Later on, it has formed the fighter squadrons of several NATO air forces for more than 40 years. The “Starfighter” was based and developed on an original and unique concept for its time : innovative shape of the plane extremely thin, small, straight mid-mounted, trapezoidal wings, the stabiliator mounted atop the fin, a powerful and reliable General Electric J-79 turbojet engine able to guarantee outstanding supersonic performances. The F-104G, manufactured under license in several NATO countries, has been built in a huge number of units and used, thanks to its increased flight range and load capacity, as multi-role fighterbomber. The F-104S, upgraded in technological features and weapons system, has equipped the Italian Air Force fighter squadrons until the mid-2000s, replaced with the Eurofighter Typhoon, showing an impressive operational life.

    M32 RECOVERY VEHICLE

    1:35

The Armored Recovery Vehicles (ARV), were introduced during the Second World War. They were built on the hulls of existing armored vehicles, removing the main armament and the turret and installing of specific equipment for the recovery or repair of armoured fighting vehicles damaged in battle. The American M-32 ARV was based on the chassis of the well-known Sherman A-4 medium tank and it was used by U.S. Army in the European Theater of Operations during the Second World War. It was characterized by the superstructure that permitted to lift and to trail the damaged tanks. Furthermore on M-32 a wide set of repairing tools and spare parts were loaded on board emphasizing its role of real “mobile armoured workshop” capable of operating on the front line. The M-32 was even able to perform complex operation as the replacing of the tank engine. The M-32, after the end of WWII, served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and it was used by many Countries until the ‘90s.

    MAGACH 6

    1:72

During the Yom Kippur War, in 1973, the backbone of Israeli armored troops was formed by the American tanks M48A3 and M60A1. However, the significant losses suffered during the battles, launched an improvement program in order to increase the operating effectiveness and the reliability of Israel’s tanks. During the 1970s, more in detail, the Magach 6 was developed on the basis of the American M60. Among the numerous modifications, such as the installation of a new fire control system and the improvement of the main armament, the most visible change was the adoption of ERA (explosive reactive armor) protections, fitted to reduce the effects of anti-tank weapons and missiles adopted by the enemy armies. Between 1980 and 1990 the Magachs have been gradually replaced by the most modern and advanced Merkava tanks as Israel’s front-line MBT (main battle tanks). However, the Magach 6, through continuous upgraded, has equipped several Israeli armored units until the mid-1990s.

WWII: EL ALAMEIN Battle at the Railway Station

    1:72

Content: El Alamein railway station and water tank in MDF material, tracks, German & British Infantry, 2 guns with figures and tanks. El Alamein is one of the most famous battles in the Second World War fought between the British forces, led by Lieutenant-General Bernard Law Montgomery, and the Axis forces, led by Field Marshall Erwin Rommel. After the penetration of the German and Italian Forces in Egypt, based on the precise goal to advance up to the Suez Canal, the British Army started to adopt a strategic plan based on the prevention of further enemy advancing toward the cities of Alexandria and Cairo. The Axis long supply lines and the lack of reinforcements, joined to the 8th Army superiority in men and vehicles, were the assumptions for the Montgomery’s great offensive successfully launched on 23rd October 1942 (codename Lightfoot). El Alamein was a turning point of the North African campaign bringing, in May 1943, to the Italian-German forces capitulation in Tunisia.

    Re: JULI 2017

    Hallo Modellbaukollegen,
